Founding Engineer

We are hiring a Founding Engineer! We’re backed by a VC with a higher unicorn rate than YC and Sequoia, Walter Kortschak (prev. CIO of SignalFire and Managing Partner at Summit Partners), Y Combinator, later-stage founders backed by some of the best VCs (Sequoia, Founders Fund, a16z, Accel, Bain Capital Ventures, YC), Pioneer Fund and 10+ hedge funds.

Trata was one of the fastest growing startups in the W25 batch, has a killer team of technical co-founders and was recently featured by the one and only Matt Levine. We are on a mission to change the way information flows within public markets. We are firm believers in Brian Chesky’s quote: “In a war between missionaries and mercenaries, the missionaries always win.”

If we raise a Series A, we will make it so your total comp matches a quant dev.

If we raise a Series B, we will make it so you never have to work a corporate job again.

Timeline is 3 years. In three months, we went from 0 code and 0 revenue to where we are now. We want to move faster from here. This is not a lifestyle gig.

Requirements:

1.        We are looking for an engineer with “spikes” – someone who has shown intense passion and excellence in whatever subject has interested him/her in the past.

2.        Resourceful, proactive, “will do” attitude. Resourceful, resourceful, resourceful.

3.        Ready to ship 5.5 days a week. This is not a 9-5 job and we will incentivize you accordingly.

4.        Pleasant to be around. Quirky/nerdy is great!

Ask yourself:

When faced with a hard or ambiguous assignment, what is your default action? How often do you give excuses for why something can’t be done? How do you behave in front of others when stressed?

Technical requirements:

Extra bonus points if you worked on voice agents (or something cool in this space) at a relevant startup or lab

Bonus points if you dropped out of a relevant PhD program because you realized you prefer building over academia

2+ years as a software engineer

Comfortable in Typescript and Python codebases

High-autonomy engineer capable of navigating unclear requirements with minimal direction

Experience integrating AI tooling (e.g. voice agents, LLM chats, etc.)
