Robots to Automate Fulfillment
Here at Yondu, we’re trying to transform how the world does physical labor. We’re a venture backed startup that’s deploying mobile manipulators to automate the most labor-intensive jobs in industry. We're training robot policies, building a fleet of wheeled humanoid robots, and scaling teleoperation to generate large amounts of task specific data.
This internship is an exciting opportunity to experiment with and try out the latest open source robot policies on robots like the UR5e, SO100, Trossen Aloha Solo, Trossen Mobile, and potentially even humanoid robots. You’ll spin up models like GR00T N1, PI-0, Gemini Robotics and test out work from research papers like BRS, UMI, Open-Television, etc. Using the results from your experimentation, we’ll take what we learn to improve upon our custom policy and training pipeline.
Some experiments would include:
In terms of experience, it is useful to have a background in robotics and have done some personal projects, industry work, or research similar to the task at hand. There’s be priority placed on applicants that already live or go to college near Los Angeles, CA.
This will be a 3 month long internship.
We will do just two interviews- one non-technical and one technical.
Yondu is a startup deploying robots to solve labor intensive problems in retail and 3PL services. We are first addressing batch picking for order fulfillment by using mobile manipulators and wheeled humanoids. Currently we are upgrading off the shelf robots to complete this task, but we will soon manufacture our own robots!
The company was founded by MIT students and has already raised seed funding after graduating from the YC W24 batch.
